Assisted Rehoming in Action:

Meet Spook

Assisted Rehoming Spook

A BMD volunteer fell for Spook's stunning green eyes and gentle nature and offered her a temporary home while a permanent loving home is found. Spook is now happily looking for her forever family.

Change of Circumstances

Sometimes circumstances change. One family who listed their cat for assisted rehoming found a way to keep their beloved companion after all.

A happy outcome for everyone.

Ongoing Support

Every person who reaches out to BMD for assisted rehoming support receives individual guidance and care throughout what can be a difficult and emotional process.

Why Work With BMD Cat Welfare for Assisted Rehoming?

Blue Mountains and Districts Cat Welfare Group has been serving the local community since 2020. Our volunteers bring many years of experience in animal rescue and welfare, and that experience is at the heart of everything we do.

Assisted rehoming is a small but important part of our work. We know how much it matters to the people involved, and we are committed to helping local cat owners through the process with practical support and genuine care.

When you work with BMD, you are not just posting an ad and hoping for the best. We will help you present your cat in the best possible way, share your listing with our community, and stay in touch throughout the process to offer guidance when you need it.

Please keep in mind that we are a small volunteer organisation. Our volunteers are dedicated and will attend to your enquiry as soon as possible.

BMD assisted rehoming is available to cat owners within the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Bathurst, and Central West region.

Please note that BMD can provide general guidance throughout this process, but cannot take responsibility for the health or personality of the listed cats, or for the accuracy of information provided by owners.

What BMD Offers Through Assisted Rehoming:

1. Listing and Advertising

We will share your cat's listing on the BMD Facebook page, reaching our local community of cat lovers across the Blue Mountains region. We can also display a poster in our Katoomba Op Shop. You are welcome to provide your own poster, or we can put one together for you.

2. Guidance and Support

We will help you prepare the information and photos needed to present your cat in the best possible light. We can also offer general suggestions on screening enquiries and assessing potential adopters. The final decisions always remain with you as the owner.

3. Community Connection

BMD has been part of the local community for years. When we share your listing, it reaches people who genuinely care about cat welfare. That matters when you are trying to find the right home for a much-loved cat.
